Know Your Position

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Romans 8:16-17 (NKJV)

This week we are looking at Pastor Drummond Robinson’s sermon on knowing our position. This is a vital principle that will allow us to live victorious lives that have a kingdom impact.

Firstly, we need to know that our thinking determines our position. The Isrealites stood trembling before Goliath and the Philistines for 40 days before David came along. He knew where he stood with God and the authority that he had because of his position and in the end he was the one who claimed victory over the enemy. If we don’t remember who we are and where we are positioned, we’ll fall for anything the enemy throws at us.

We need to understand that God is not far off or even just nearby, but that he is actually living in us and we are living in him. This is our true position. Understanding this will revolutionize how we see ourselves. It shifts our identity, which in turn affects our thoughts, choices, words and actions.

Lastly, we need to shift our thinking from being under attack, to being under the blood of Jesus. We often make the enemy’s work easy by speaking out that we’re under attack over and over. By doing this, we negate the power of the blood. We need to proclaim that we are under the blood of Jesus. Then, when we do face trials, we’ll count it all joy because we know that God is working on our character through it.

Reflect:

  • Are you positioned inside or outside of the house of God?
  • What do you need to do to get in the house?
  • What would it look like if you lived believing that God is in you and you are in God?
  • How can you make sure that you don’t negate the power of the blood by the words you speak?
